If you like rodeo action, you are sure to enjoy watching top-notch cowboys and cowgirls ranging in age from 5 to 14.
Seventy students from Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi will compete in bareback, breakaway roping, barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, team roping, chute dogging, and bull riding.
These kids have competed in 19 rodeos for the 2009 – 2010 season all over Tennessee and one invitational rodeo in Tuscumbia, Ala.
The State Finals is the last rodeo of the 2009 – 2010 season but the break is very short. The 2010 – 2011 season begins Sept. 4 in Memphis.
These kids have to work hard all year long to maintain schoolwork plus their extracurricular activities and rodeo. Rodeo is a little different from most sports that kids participate in. The kids have to pay their own entry fees. They are not backed by their school but they can win prize money, buckles, saddles, and other nice prizes.
Tennessee Junior Rodeo is a family oriented sport that anyone would enjoy. When you watch these youngsters, you’ll forget they may only be 9 or 10 years old.
If you want to see action packed rodeo, come join us at the West Tennessee Ag Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to join us for Cowboy Church on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
