Lael Sunday School Class held its regular monthly meeting at the Family Life Center at Union City First Baptist Church recently.
Faye Passmore, class president, opened the meeting with prayer.
She asked for the names of those who are sick and in need of prayer.
Several names were noted and Joyce Stephens led in prayer.
The class sang “Happy Birthday” to Edna McIntosh, who was celebrating on the day of the meeting.
Dot Capps presented the program taken from Amos 5:6. Other scriptures referred to included Psalm 27:18, Proverbs 23:18 and James 5:11.
Her title was “Seek the Lord and ye shall live.”
She noted that the Lord breaks through all our old ideas of when to seek His dwelling place. He can directly go to our hearts with healing, love and saving grace. We need to wait for the Lord. God has given us eternal life and the life is in His Son.
For the monthly project, the class made a donation for school supplies and decided to send items to two missionaries from the church.
Trudie Thornton was the hostess and she served cake, ice cream, chips, nuts and drinks to the members, who later enjoyed a game of dominoes.
Those present were Pat Cunningham, Lena Mai Pruitt, Ms. McIntosh, Jean Eaker, Mrs. Stephens, Ms. Capps, Dorothy Rasberry, Jessie White, Ms. Thornton and Mrs. Passmore
The hostess for the September meeting will be Mrs. Passmore.
