Retired Obion County General Sessions judge Raymond Morris is recuperating at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky., after undergoing open heart surgery Wednesday.
He said via phone Monday he’s having post-surgery problems and it may be weeks before he fully recovers.
“I’m doing good compared to what I had,” he said. “The ‘widow maker’ is what they went after. I had two blockages in the widow maker. After surgery, we were talking about how lucky I was. They said, ‘You’re lucky you didn’t have a heart attack. You wouldn’t have lived two minutes.’
“If I hadn’t got here when I did and had a heart attack, I might not have got here at all. I had a heart catherization Monday, before the surgery. So it turned out for the best.”
