On Tuesday evening, the Ladies WMU met here for their quarterly meeting. Bro. Kieth welcomed everyone. Roll call and announcements were given by Vickie Earls. “At Calvary” was sung. Prayer calendar was given by Fain Cole, and mission projects was discussed by Pam Warman. Special music was presented by Terena Jones, “Family Tree” and Leah Jones, “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Our missionaries were unable to be at church. Testimonials were given and certificates were passed out. Desserts and coffee was then enjoyed by everyone.
On Wednesday night, we opened our service with singing, “Alleluia.” Our study was from John 7:43-8:11.
On Sunday, we sang, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Bro. Hugh read from Responsive Reading, “Majesty and Power.” Our Sunday school lesson was, “Respect God’s Holiness,” from 2 Samuel 6:1-15,17.
We extend sympathy to the family of Ruby Webber of Palmersville. Happy Birthday was sung to Jacob, Summer and Eva.
We appreciated our visitors coming. Following congregational singing, Bro. Hugh and the choir sang, “He Touched Me.” Bro. Kieth brought an excellent message from Ezekiel 43:1-5 and Acts 4:13, 31-32. It was great to hear that William Winstead is back in the States following another tour in Iraq. This makes three of ours that is home. Praise the Lord for their safety home. We still have a few more there. Our church has been privileged to have someone there serving since Desert Storm.
On Sunday evening, we had another excellent message from Ecclesiastes 1:1-3,7; 3:1-8; 9:10; 12:13 and Matthew 16:26.
Saturday morning at 10 a.m., the ladies will be scrapbooking in the fellowship hall.
Saturday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m., we will have a fish fry to celebrate our new parking lot and pavilion.
Happy Birthday this week to Jackie Laws, Matthew McClure, Amy Smethwick, Danny Casey, Faye Ward and Jackie Beauchamp.wcp 8-5-10
