WCP 8.10.10 Bill Dobbins, Chairman of the Bethel University Board of Trustees, has announced that Bethel University has entered into another long term contract with Dr. Robert Prosser to continue as Bethel University’s president.
“Dr. Prosser is one of those rare individuals,” states Dobbins. “He is a genuinely entrepreneurial leader who doesn’t care who gets the credit as long as the mission is accomplished.”
At a recent meeting of Bethel’s Board of Trustees, the board and Dr. Prosser discussed goals at length. First on the list is the continuation of Bethel’s growth progress and achievement. “Bethel has been the fastest growing independent college or university in the state of Tennessee,” Dobbins points out. “I see no evidence of that changing.”
One example of this performance orientation is Bethel becoming one of the largest, if not the largest, MBA program in the state of Tennessee within two years of the program’s inception. Another example is the construction of a new 260 bed residence hall in seven months and having it completed and at full occupancy for this Fall semester.
“It is amazing what people can do when given the freedom and the responsibility,” states Dr. Prosser. “Accomplishing what Bethel has accomplished takes many, many, many people working toward a worthy mission and finding their reward primarily in the doing of something worthwhile. My job is to bring committed, competent people to the task, support them in their work and organize their efforts to remove needless barriers to mission fulfillment.”
Other presidential goals include keeping Bethel financially sound, developing new cutting edge programs that meet real needs, improving Bethel’s infrastructure in McKenzie and beyond and strengthening Bethel’s historic relationship with her sponsoring denomination, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
