Robert Lee Smith, 85, of South Fulton died Aug. 12, 2010, at his home.
Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with Travis Lamb officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to Tennessee Children’s Home, 170 Frank Latham Road, Pinson, TN 38366.
He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Weakley County, son of the late Farris and Eva Smith. He was the widower of Peggie Ann (Richardson) Smith and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served for four years at the end of World War II. He was a member of Church of Christ and had been an employee of Kentucky Utilities for 32 years, retiring as superintendent of construction for the Western Division.
Survivors include three daughters and his son-in-law, Peggy “Lee” Clark of Lexington, Ky., Jeanne and Mike Lamb of Paris and Pam Smith of Union City; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tony and Debbie Smith of Dawson Springs, Ky., Joe Deweese of Union City and Don and Faythe Deweese of Summerville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Carl Smith of Paducah, Ky., and Farris Junior Smith of Martin; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Lynn and Jeff Collins of South Fulton.
He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Lynn Smith; and his sister, Nancy (Smith) Pate.
