Claude Smith Jr., 75, of Hornbeak died Aug. 13, 2010, at his home.
Services were set for 1 p.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Ron Newberry officiating. Burial was to follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Pallbearers were to be Bart Smith, Frankie Smith, David Smith, Jimmy Wade Williams, Mike Hopper, Jackie Hopper and Frankie Joe Smith.
The family requests that memorials be made to Main Street Church of Christ in Troy.
He was born March 14, 1935, in Obion County, son of the late Claude and Annie (McCord) Smith. He married the former Jo Ruth Hopper Feb. 21, 1953. She survives. He was a retired employee of Union Oil Co. in Texas, where he worked for 21 years, and was also a retired security guard for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Troy’s Main Street Church of Christ and Hornbeak Woodmen of the World.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Jo and Richard Thompson of Hornbeak; his grandson, Austin B. Thompson of Hornbeak; two sisters, Oletha Bramlett of Nashville and Polly Lovett Russell of Dresden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Gene Smith, Houston Smith, Ralph Smith and Ray Smith; and three sisters, Marie Stewart, Helen Tanner and Kathryn Quick.
