A break-in has been reported at a church building on East College Street in Union City.
Brown Chapel AME Church at 801 East College St. apparently was burglarized sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police were notified of the burglary at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday when someone at the church reported he was last there at 1 p.m. Tuesday and returned about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday to discover the kitchen door had been kicked in and entry made. Inside the building, an intruder kicked in the church office door and rifled through a filing cabinet, but there did not appear to be anything taken, according to the report.
Damage was reported to the door frames.
The incident remains under investigation by police.
