University of Tennessee at Martin summer enrollment of 2,322 students increased over 2009 and fall early totals point to continued growing student numbers.
Enrollment increased by 7.2 percent compared to summer 2009.
The increase includes students who enrolled in “Maymester,” a three-week mini-term, and establishes a summer record for undergraduate students enrolled.
Undergraduate students totaled 1,925 compared to 1,798 in summer 2009. Graduate students totaled 397 compared to 368 last summer.
“The 2010 summer enrollment numbers are encouraging,” said Dr. Thomas Rakes, university chancellor. “Our early enrollment numbers for fall 2010 compare positively to the same period last year when a record fall enrollment was posted. Our faculty and staff continue to provide the personal touch that has become the hallmark of UT Martin.”
All enrollment numbers are compiled and reported by the university’s Office of Institutional Research.
Registration for fall semester continues, with classes set to begin Aug. 30. Information about UT Martin is available by calling 1-800-829-UTM1.
