Delta Sigma Theta’s third annual Phyllis Easley Memorial Concert will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at McCabe United Methodist Church in Martin. Ms. Easley was active in community events in Weakley and Obion counties and had a great affection for and interest in children. The program was started to honor her commitments and proceeds will be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Delta Sigma Theta-Martin alumnae say they are excited and honored to be able to memorialize Ms. Easley as a “trailblazer” for women. The organization is a sisterhood of college-educated women committed to public service. Their program will feature the results of a three-day workshop and will include children from 5-12 years old and a segment of the “spoken word” by Patrice Boyd.
