Jenny Virgin of Union City took over the position July 26.
A native of Dallas, Mrs. Virgin moved to Union City in 2001.
She has a bachelor of science degree in education, with a minor in early childhood, from the University of North Texas. She has a teaching license in Texas, where she taught for four years. She served as education specialist at Promethean Foundation for three years before joining the library staff.
Mrs. Virgin co-founded the Masquerade Theatre Children’s Summer Work-shops, where she runs three different camps and directs the plays. Masquerade Summer Workshops just closed its seventh production, “Alice in Wonderland Junior,” on Aug. 1.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Obion County Public Library team,” she said, adding she plans to continue the already outstanding programs in place in the Children’s Department and is now working on adding new ones for the future.
“Keep watching for new ideas for children’s story time, craft time, Teen Advisory Guild and a new Teen Book Club,” she said.
She is married to Chris Virgin. They have two children — Jacob, 9, and Ella, 6.
