James Gary Hines, 69, of Paris, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Baptist Hospital, Nashville.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Pierce McIntyre and Trent Bullock officiating with Ridgeway Funeral Home, Paris, in charge of the arrangements.
John Bicknell, Andre Champagne, Wayne Williams, Jeff Hines and James Hines served as pallbearers.
Hines was born Dec. 4, 1940, in Wichita, Kan., son of the late William E. and Goldie McCart Hines. He was an ordained minister for 50 years serving in Oklahoma, Texas, Southside Baptist Church in Martin and Birds Creek Baptist in Whitlock and was an evangelist all over the world for many years. He was Regional Manager for Reserve National Insurance Co. for more than 20 years, assisted his wife with the launch of Shelter Insurance Co. in Paris, and served on the Board of Directors for Tennessee Baptist Association nominating committee and the Board of Directors of Cornerstone International Ministries. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Paris.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dixie Spaulding Hines of Paris; one daughter and son-in-law, Charise and Andre Champagne of Flower Mound, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Jan Hines of Bartlesville, Okla. and Jeff Hines of Ashburn, Va.; six grandchildren, Brandee Champagne, Bailey Champagne, Lauren Hines, Dalton Hines, Briley Betts and Teal Betts; and one great-grandchild, Regan Betts.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Rachael Lucille Bicknell; and one brother, Gene Hines.
