A Fulton man was charged with rape last week after a Fulton police officer stopped by a local residence to follow up on a previous complaint.
George E. Purefide, 56, of Fulton was arrested on a charge of first-degree rape, a Class B felony, according to a Fulton Police Department press release.
On July 27, a Fulton police officer arrived at a local residence to follow up on a previous complaint when he heard a female inside the residence yelling for help.
The victim was able to get to the door and advised the officer that a man inside the residence had been raping her, police reported.
The officer entered the residence and observed a man getting dressed. The victim alleged that the man, identified as Purefide, had physically held her down and raped her.
Both the woman and Purefide were transported to Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton for medical examinations and treatment, with Purefide then arrested on the charge of first-degree rape. He was processed and transported to the Fulton County (Ky.) Detention Center.
Police said first-degree rape is a Class B felony punishable by up to 10-20 years in the penitentiary.
