A benefit concert for the Dickerson family will be held Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at 720 East College St. in Union City.
The event — which has as its theme “Family and Friends Coming Together, Helping One Another” — is being held to help raise funds for the funeral expenses of Robert Dickerson Jr., a Fulton resident who died in May. The goal is $4,500, according to organizers.
Anyone interested in assisting may also donate directly at Rawls Funeral Home in either Union City or South Fulton. They are asked to obtain a receipt and make this donation known at the fund raiser since organizers are keeping a record of everything raised.
Dickerson is survived by four children, Ryan Dickerson and Rashad Dickerson, both of Martin, and Robert Dickerson III and Jamia Dickerson, both of Union City. Their mother, Angela Brown, is minister of music at Pilgrim Rest.
Ms. Brown also asks for continued prayer for the Dickerson family. She said 2-year-old Ryan Dickerson Jr., the son of Ryan and Tammy Dickerson, was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. His prognosis is good, though, she added.
