|Todd Johnson, Chris Martin and Harry Rogers shot a scorching 15-under par 57 on Saturday and followed up with a 13-under par 59 Sunday to claim Poplar Meadows Country Club’s annual three-man scramble title last weekend. |
Their two-day total of 116 was good enough for a one-stroke victory over Matt Sanner, Steven Smith and Brendon Wilson, who shot a 58-59-117.
Third place went to Scott Carpenter, Trey McNeil and John Slayton, who shot 59-60-119. They were followed by Keith Gilliam, Robert Huff and Ray Swift, who shot 60-63-123.
The first flight champs — Tony Reed, Mike Bevis and Ben Youree — followed their first-round 63 with a 60 for a two-day total of 123. Finishing a shot back were Tom Elam, Tom Elam Jr. and Lynn Watkins, who shot 63-61-124. Another shot back was the team of Greg Coleman, Lance Gray and Brent Mobbs, who shot 64-61-125. Finishing in fourth was the team of Craig Bowie, Ronnie Birmingham and Paul Myer (63-63-126).
In the second flight, Tim Shanks, Troy Shanks and Al Oliver claimed a one-shot victory by shooting 65-61-126. They were followed by Don Lyerly, John Hale and Jimmy White (66-61-127); Paul Fryman, Mike Taylor and Robbie Jones (65-63-128); and Randy Chism, David Sturkie and Robert King (65-66-131).
Joey Spellings, Brian McDaniels and Casey Barksdale were the third-flight winners, following their first day total of 68 with a 64 for a two-day total of 132.
Finishing in second was the team of Kenny Adkins, Tim Heuck and Jim Castleman, who shot 70-66-136.
Finishing in third after a scorecard playoff was the team of Jon Kincade, Lucas Durall and Patrick Walker (68-68-136).
In fourth place was the team of Phillip White, Charles Denaburg and Larry Snider, who shot 71-66-137.
