Elwanda (Freeman) Walker, 84, of Martin died July 23, 2010, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Martin.
Services were set for 11 a.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin, with burial to follow there in East Side Cemetery.
Judge Tommy Moore and the Rev. David Brown were to officiating.
Pallbearers were to be Charlie Davis, Guy Robbins, Shawn Miles, Billy Gene Wagster, Lee Dortch, Stan Baker and Roger Huff. Honorary pallbearers were to be members of Bercan Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church and Billy Simpson, Warren Engelhart and Dr. Michael W. Hinds.
She was born June 10, 1926, in Weakley County, daughter of the late Lera Erwin (Walker) and Ralph Freeman Sr. She was married to Max Harold Walker Oct. 24, 1944. He survives. She was a homemaker and had been an Avon sales representative. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Martin High School and was a member of Martin’s Central Baptist Church.
Survivors also include her son, John Mark Walker of Martin; her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Lee Tatum of Martin; her sister, Cora (Freeman) Gill of Martin; two grandchildren, William Clayton Walker of Dalton, Ga., and Christy Lee Walker of Martin; and her great-grandson, Seth Karson Mitchell.
She was also preceded in death by her son, William Franklin Walker; and her brother, Ralph Freeman Jr.
