The Messenger has learned of the death of Wilma Hegler, 55, of Kalamazoo, Mich., a former resident of Union City and the niece of Mildred Blair of Union City. She died July 5, 2010, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Services were held July 14 at Season of Change Church in Kalamazoo. Whitley Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 30, 1955, in Tiptonville, daughter of the late Willie Alvin and Willie Mae Hegler.
Survivors also include five children, Tracy Hegler, Joe-Joe Hegler, Sara Hegler, Samuel Hegler and Litika McPherson, all of Kalamazoo; three sisters, Lillie Pugh of Chicago and Mary Hegler and Iquilla Hegler, both of Kalamazoo; two brothers, Bubba Hegler and Steve Hegler, both of Kalamazoo; 17 grandchildren; her uncle, James McIntyre of Copenhagen, Denmark; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Debra Williams and Letricia Hegler; and her brother-in-law, Jim Williams.
