The residents have been very busy this week with lots of activities and wonderful visitors. Each morning, we start with a devotional followed by sitting on the front porch.
We have had two very special helpers volunteering with this week. Millie Bryant and Charley Woodard were with us from Dresden school and did a marvelous job. We hope each of you had a great week as well.
The Cover Card winners were Doris Bradberry, Vivian Edwards, Obra Sims, Mary Bennett, Violet Morris and Mary Clark. Every Thursday afternoon, the residents participate in one-line Bingo.
Each of the players leaves a winner, and this week’s prize was fifty cents. The crowds continue to grow, and the help from peer residents, family members, staff and volunteers is outstanding and greatly appreciated.
Our sports and games have been very entertaining. The residents played a round of The Price is Right on Thursday night. Three items were up for pricing and the closest guessers won.
The winners were Lessie Long receiving a clock, Obra Sims receiving a porcelain doll, and Betty Parham receiving a glass sculpture. The game is a lot of fun, and the prizes are always well received.
Doris Bradberry proved her strength by winning the Javelin Toss. She was able to rocket the foam javelin across the activity room!
Thyra Provine racked up $170 in our Jackpot. She had just the right touch when it came to tossing our fake coins.
Lois Morris was the winner of Giant Tic-Tac-Toe Toss. It’s a combination of old-fashioned tic-tac-toe and beanbag toss. She finished with 6 lines.
On Wednesday afternoon, the residents competed in Wii time. They seemed to have the most fun with the bowling tournament this week with spares and strikes popping up everywhere.
This week’s reminiscing activity was Tell Me All about It! The residents discussed topics ranging from favorite vacations spots to hobbies to school years.
It is always amazing to learn favorite memories and new things about the residents. It is an amazing activity!
Each week we have a special pleasure food focused in our activity program. This week’s Social Hour featured ice cream sundaes. The residents enjoyed Neapolitan ice cream with chocolate and strawberry syrups and whipped cream on top.
Rainbow Sherbet was also served for those with a little lighter sweet tooth.
It was a wonderful cold treat on a very hot day!
On Tuesday, the Weakley County Election Commission was with the residents for voting. It’s still a very important right for our residents to get to vote.
That was made possible with such kindness and ease from the Elections’ Office.
The residents have been blessed with many church programs and song services. Dresden First United Methodist Church was with us on Tuesday afternoon for a wonderful and inspired song and prayer service.
Siloam Baptist Church provided the Wednesday evening Bible Study. They always deliver beautiful songs and services.
Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church provided our Sunday morning worship services at their respective times. They are so dedicated and provided outstanding programs each week. Friends of Carmen Kelley finished our Sunday off with a spectacular singing.
The residents always enjoy their performances and special talents. Thank you all for joining us.
