Jackson attains rank of Eagle
Hunter Jackson, the son of Anthony and Shelly Jackson of Union City, was recently awarded the Eagle Scout Award from the Boys Scouts of America.
He is the grandson of Wayne and Peggye Jackson of Union City and Jerry and Brenda Patterson of Byhalia, Miss.
Jackson is a member of BSA Troop 570 in Union City and has been active in scouting in Union City for many years. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and has participated in many community service activities.
For his Eagle service project, Jackson chose to refurbish the flag poles at the Obion County Fairgrounds. The flag poles had fallen into disrepair, but at the opening of the 2009 Obion County Fair, the Boy Scouts proudly raised the American flags on the fairgrounds’ freshly painted, properly functioning flag poles — a project which will serve the community for many years to come.
Jackson graduated from Union City High School in May 2010 and plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro in the fall, majoring in biology.
