The following news was received too late to appear on today’s Religion Page.
First United Pentecostal Church on Edwards Street in Union City will have a street service at Kiwanis Park Saturday. Registration will begin at 2 p.m., with the service set for 3-5. The theme will be “The Word Is Alive,” and there will be music and a message, plus giveaways, including 150 backpacks with school supplies for area children.
There will also be free hot dogs and beverages.
The public is invited to attend.
Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located at 720 East College St. in Union City, will celebrate the anniversary of the pastor, the Rev. A.E. McCadney, Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Rev. Chris Rainer of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Jackson will be the guest speaker.
The Rev. Keith Norman, pastor of First Baptist Church on Broad Street in Memphis, will be the afternoon speaker at 3 p.m. and will be joined by his congregation as special guests.
This celebration marks the 29th year of service for McCadney.
The congregation is invited to attend.
