A Kenton home sustained extensive fire damage after a lightning strike Sunday night.
The home of the Woody Workman family on Pearl Street, located off Sunnyside Drive, was damaged following a lightning strike that resulted in a fire starting in the attic, according to Kenton Fire Chief Ed Sims.
The Workmans were not home when the fire broke out. Sims said the roof was burned off the house, which also sustained water damage.
The Kenton Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from the Gibson County and Rutherford fire departments.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries during falls at the scene, according to Sims. One was treated and released at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton, while the other was treated and released the next morning at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
