Posted: Tuesday, July 13, 2010 8:01 pm ATA SHOOT — The Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) recently held a competitive shoot at the Jackson Purchase Area Gun Club in Murray, Ky. Seven members of the 4-H Obion County Shooting Sports team competed at the event. Bruce Ragsdale placed first in the Sub-Junior division. Placing first in the Junior division was Matthew Thompson. J.T. Ragsdale placed first in Doubles for his class. This was the first time the team competed at an ATA shoot and the first time shooting doubles or handicap. Members of the Obion County Shooting Sports team competing at the contest were (seated, from left) Thompson, Bret Williams, Bruce Ragsdale, (standing) Nancy Davis, Rad McDavid and J.T. Ragsdale. Also competing was Johnathan Pool. The Amateur Trapshooting Association serves as the governing body for the sport of American-style trapshooting. The ATA’s mission is to promote and govern the sport throughout the world.
