Two separate outages affected Gibson Electric Membership Corp. customer-owners in Obion County Sunday, with both occurring around 7 p.m. and being caused by lightning strikes to transformers.
The first outage affected about 390 Gibson EMC customers northeast of Troy. Service was restored to all but one of these customers at 7:45 p.m.
The second outage affected about 415 Gibson EMC customers east and north of Obion. Power was restored to all but one of these customers at 7:55 p.m.
Crews are working to replace the damaged transformers and will restore service to the remaining customers as quickly as possible, according to Rita Alexander, vice president of human resources and communications for Gibson EMC.
