Nancy Carolyn (Alexander) Gunnels, 59, of Newbern died July 8, 2010, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was the sister of Sheila Walker of South Fulton, Sharon Davidson of Troy and Vernon Alexander of Union City.
Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Curry Funeral Home in Dyersurg, with the Revs. Vernon Alexander and Danny Walker officiating. Interment followed in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg.
Pallbearers were Scott Gunnels, Justin Gunnels, Josh Gunnels, Brent Davidson, Tim Davidson and Justin Alexander.
She was born March 24, 1951, in Lake County, daughter of Hubert and Hazel Alexander of Dyersburg. She was the wife of Ronnie Gunnels, who survives, and was a homemaker and a former employee of Quebecor World’s mailing department in Dyersburg.
She is also survived by her daughter, Melissa McCaine of Dyersburg; four other brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Sherry Alexander, Mark Alexander and William Alexander, all of Dyersburg, Milton Alexander of Munford and Virginia Alexander of Union City; two brothers-in-law, Danny Walker of South Fulton and Claudie Davidson of Troy; three grandchildren, Krystle Leggett, Angela McCaine and Brittany Butler; and her great-grandson, Ethan Leggett.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Alexander.
