LIFELINE Blood Services will be at Tennessee Technology Center on Second Street in Union City Thursday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Donors will receive a summer T-shirt.
Donors can visit www.lifelinebloodserv.org to begin their registration online.
Donors are reminded to bring proof of identity. A photo ID or two alternate forms of identification (blood center card, Social Security card, birth certificate, library card, voter registration card, club membership card, insurance card, payroll stub, current utility bill, professional license, selective service card, personal check book, voter registration, bank or credit card, school or work ID without photo, vehicle registration, INS card, fishing or hunting license) are necessary. Donors should eat within four hours of giving blood.
LIFELINE is the official blood and blood products provider for patients the local hospital and 18 other West Tennessee hospitals. Patients rely on blood transfusions for treatment and recovery from devastating illnesses such as leukemia and other cancers. Accident victims and patients requiring surgery also benefit from blood transfusions. Blood given to any other blood bank does not necessarily help local patients because the blood may be sent to other parts of the state.
