I lived next door to Sally and Herbert and their 4 children in University City, MO. She was a warm, kind neighbor, a devoted mother, and a
welcoming hostess. She shared memories of her Tennessee childhood with me, loaned me furniture, and made me feel at home in the neighborhood, Ames Place. Sally volunteered at City Hospital in St. Louis and was commended for her excellence at working with patients.
It was a sad day for us when her and her family moved away. They were going to live in Switzerland where Herbert was to be working with the World Health Organization. She gave me several gifts before she left — a wrought iron bench and a garden statue. I have both and enjoy them every day. Wonderful memories of her. She was a devoted to her church and never missed a Sunday service. Rest in peace, my friend.
