Completed arrangements are being announced for Mildred (Roberts) Massey, 83, of Union City, who died July 4, 2010, at her home.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Rawls Funeral Home in Union City, with burial following in East View Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Smith will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
She was born April 2, 1927, in Hickman, Ky., daughter of the late Bessie Roberts, who died while she was a toddler. She and her sister, Valarie (Roberts) Wortham, were raised by their uncle and aunt, the late Robert and Nell Roberts.
She married Roger Massey in 1946 and the couple lived in Freeport, Ill. They adopted a daughter, Mildred Ann, in 1956, and Mrs. Massey returned to Union City in 1959. She was employed at the former Salant and Salant in Union City and at the former Martin Manufacturing and had also worked at the former The Barn, the former Searcy’s Cafeteria and the former Last Word Café, all in Union City.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred Ann and Eugene Bowen of South Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren and the spouse of one, LaRhonda and Gerald Atkins-Crawford, Shannon Atkins and Tara Lewis-Atkins; seven great-grandchildren, JaMaar Atkins, CarVon Atkins, Cameron Atkins, CaJuan Atkins, TeAria Atkins, KeAria Atkins and Shannon Atkins, all of Kalamazoo, Mich.; her great-great-grandson, JaMaar Atkins Jr. of Kalamazoo; her niece, Joan Blackmon of Union City; her nephews, Franklin Abram, Timothy Abram and Christopher Abram; and her great-nieces, Melissa Abram-Jackson and Kimberly Abram-Bryant.
She was also preceded in death by her sister and her grandson, Scott Atkins.
