James Madison Long Posted: Tuesday, July 6, 2010 9:13 pm James Madison Long, 88, of Dresden, died Friday, June 30, 2010, at his residence. Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home Chapel in Union City with Rev. Billy Garner officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. Michael Stout, Casey Coady, Donald Long, Junior Long, Stevie Long, Allen Long, Lynn Burkett and John Thomas Johnson served as pallbearers. Long was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Crockett County, son of the late James William and Flora Rutledge Long. He was the widower of Hattie Irene Coady Long. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti and Frank Hurst of Union City and Glenda Gross of Cicero, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary Madison and LaRue Long of Dresden; one brother, Alvin Long of Rives; one sister, Mary Ann Long Simmons Morrison of Martin; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one son, James William Long; three sisters, Polkie Lee Coady, Robbie Christene Wholf and Katherine Elizabeth Long Sanders; and three brothers, Finis J. Long, Harris Benford Long and Woodrow W. Long. Memorials may be given to Pleasant View Baptist Chuch, Box 56, Dukedom, TN 38226 wcp 7/6/10 |
