Jackson State offers community workshop Posted: Tuesday, July 6, 2010 9:13 pm A free Community and Patriot Express Loan Workshop will be held on July 13 from 9-11 a.m. at the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce at 197 Auditorium Street in Jackson. The workshop is sponsored by the Chamber and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center of Jackson State Community College. Participants will learn how to apply for a Small Business Administration Community Express Loan and the Patriot Express Loan for veterans. The loans are available to start ups, full-time and part-time businesses. These loans are payable over seven years. Veterans will receive a 90 day deferral on principal and interest. Loan amounts are from $5,000 to $25,000 in $5,000 increments, and no collateral or financial statements are required. All partners, principals or co-owners of the business must apply together. Those with a criminal history or anyone who has defaulted on a government loan including student loans are not eligible. Non-profit businesses are not eligible. Those wishing to apply need to bring the following items to the workshop: photo copy of driver’s license or official ID, social security number., evidence of LPRA status if not a citizen, federal tax ID number and business checkbook, (Veterans) certified copy of DD-214, DD-2, DD-1173, DD-2648, etc. The workshop is free and open to the general public. The seminars are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U. S. Small Business Administration. Additional funding is provided by the Tennessee Board of Regents and the State of Tennessee. All SBA funded programs are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
