Lael Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Union City held its June meeting at the family life center.
Joyce Stephens, class teacher, opened with prayer. Faye Passmore, president, asked for names of those in need of prayers and several people who were sick and bereaved were named.
The class voted to give a donation to a needy family who has a child with cancer.
Dot Capps gave the devotional taken from Isaiah 46:4 and titled “Old and Choicest.”
“‘Even when you are old,’ God said, ‘I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you,’” she told the class, adding that growing old can be dangerous; the trail is treacherous and the pitfalls are many.
“One is wise to be prepared,” she said. “You know it is coming. God gave you plenty of warning. He gave you plenty of advice. What we see will last only a short time, but what we cannot see will last forever. God never said that the journey will be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile.” The text was taken from II Corinthians 4:18.
Dorothy Rasberry was hostess and served cheese- cake with strawberries, cheese straws and candy with drinks.
Those attending were Bobbie Adams, Jean Eaker, Mrs. Stephens, Trudy Thorn-ton, Pat Cunningham, Ms. Capps, Dorothy Rasberry, Mrs. Passmore, Lena Mai Pruitt, Edna McIntosh and Jessie White.
The July meeting hostess will be Pat Cunningham.
