The General Assembly of the Cumberland Pres-byterian Church has elected Dr. Doy L. Daniels Jr. to the board of trustees of Memphis Theological Seminary.
Daniels is an adjunct professor of theology at the Seminary and was pastor of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church from January 2007-August 2009.
The board of trustees is the governing body of the seminary  and works closely with the seminary’s president, Dr. Jay Earheart-Brown, in defining and accomplishing the mission and ministry of the organization.
In accepting his election to the board, Daniels said, “I am committed to excellence in scholarship and effectiveness in ministry. I look forward to working with Dr. Earheart-Brown and my colleagues on the board to make Memphis Theological Seminary a Spirit-led, Christ-centered institution that prepares men and women to present the person and gospel of Christ to the world.”
Noting that he has been involved in the life of the seminary since 1994, both as a student and as an adjunct professor, Daniels said, “By adding pastor-theologians to the faculty, Dr. Earheart-Brown is building a strong bridge between the church and the academy, and I am proud to be a small part of that bridge. The seminary serves Christ by serving His church.”
