Completed arrangements are being announced for James Wayne “Pug” Perkins, 67, of Union City, who died June 25, 2010, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church in Union City, with the Rev. Eugene Coleman officiating. Rawls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 10, 1943, in Milan, son of Lottie (Barksdale) Perkins of Union City and the late James Walter Perkins. He was a member of Moore’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Milan and was a 1961 graduate of the former Polk High School in Milan. He attended Lane College in Jackson and Tyler Barber College in Memphis. A U.S. Army veteran, he had retired from Kohler in Union City after 25 years of employment.
Survivors also include two aunts, Annie Perkins of Milan and Evelyn (Barksdale) Hood of West Memphis, Ark.; two uncles and his aunt, Dallas T. Barksdale Jr. of Detroit and James and Shelia Barksdale of Indianapolis; and several cousins.
