ATV accident claims life of Troy man
A 53-year-old Troy man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a four-wheeler accident in rural Weakley County last week.
According to a press release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the Ruthville community at the intersection of Wall and Chestnut Glade roads shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23 for an ATV accident.
Robert David Short was apparently attempting to climb a steep bank alongside a creek when his four-wheeler flipped and landed on top of him, according to the release.
Short was pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported to the Martin hospital by the Weakley County Ambulance Service. The Martin Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Services for Short were held over the weekend. The Troy businessman had been previously employed at Production Credit Association for seven years and at First State bank for 14 years. Most recently, he joined with William Cole and the pair opened Cole and Short Crop Insurance Agency in Union City.
