card an 11-under score

The team of Matt Russell, Robert Huffstutter, Bruce Culver, Eddie Thompson, Glen Hale and Doug Bobo combined to shoot an 11-under-par and win the weekly men’s scramble at Wynridge Greens in Troy Thursday.
Meanwhile, the combination of Bill Rogers, Walter Shumate, Harold Todd, Jamie Martin and Jimmy Yates got second place with a 9-under.
Wynridge Greens holds its weekly men’s scramble every Thursday.

Hickman lady winners
have slim advantage

The Hickman Country Club’s Ladies League took to the links on Thursday night.  
The team of Dino Nerren, Kathy Barker, Carol Potts and Liz Roberts won the competition via a scorecard playoff with a 2-under score.
Meanwhile, the combination of LeAnn Gantt, Linda Moore, Anne Kincade and Joyce Bell finished in second place with a like score.
Barker was the closest to the pin.

UT character Lott
to help on Vol staff

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Former NFL and Tennessee player Andre Lott has been named coordinator of a new position designed to build character among Volunteer players.
Coach Derek Dooley on Wednesday named him head of the Vol for Life/Character Education program.
According to a news release from the school, it is to guide personal growth of the players.
Lott lettered at Tennessee from 1997 to 2001 and played five seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the fifth round by the Washington Redskins.
The 31-year-old most recently worked in the Hardin County, Tenn., school system. He is from Memphis.

Titans’ sellout streak
not in danger of ending

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee Titans officials expect the number of consecutive game sellouts to reach 124 when single-game tickets go on sale July 31.
Approximately 3,000 tickets for each game will be available for $45 to $85 each.
The Titans have sold out every game since moving into LP Field for the 1999 season. Stadium capacity is 68,798.
