A child has died as the result of an accident Thursday morning in Obion County.
Skylar Drake Pollock, 6, of Cloverdale Road in Obion died at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City emergency room, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
Pollock was a passenger in a 1996 Dodge Stratus driven by Kayla Morgan, 20, of Highway 211 North in Dyersburg.
The report states Ms. Morgan was traveling westbound on State Highway 21 near Hornbeak when she ran off the north side of the roadway and overcorrected, coming back onto the roadway and exiting it for a second time. The vehicle then rolled, ejecting the child, and rolled again after the child was ejected. The vehicle came to final rest on the north side of the roadway.
Ms. Morgan and a second passenger, Dustin Scott Hale, 24, of Cloverdale Road in Obion received minor injuries.
Pollock and Hale were not wearing their seatbelts, while Ms. Morgan was, according to the report.
Trooper Brian Avery stated in the report that safety restraints would have made a difference.
