Shades of Blagojevich come through in FBI tapes

CHICAGO (AP) — A complicated picture of Rod Blagojevich is emerging from FBI tapes being played at the former Illinois governor’s corruption trial.
His former chief of staff, John Harris, has been on the stand all week and is expected to be called again today. But it’s the tapes that took center stage Wednesday.
Blagojevich at one point compares himself to former President Richard Nixon for what he says was a tendency they shared to get depressed after winning elections. And a recorded phone chat with his wife Patti descends into a profanity-laced shouting match.
Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to charges including scheming to sell or trade President Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat and racketeering.
