The deadline for Mall Mania, scheduled for July 13-14, has been extended to Monday, according to Obion County University of Tennessee Extension agent Una Baker.
The workshop for youth in grades 5-12 is being held at Dyersburg Mall and will have a New Orleans style theme — Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez! (Let the Good Times Roll).
Participants will attend four classes, enjoy a fashion revue, lunch at Applebee’s and Sweet Pepper Deli and an optional modeling workshop. The modeling workshop will be held on July 13 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Participants will learn to choose outfits as well as receive instructions in modeling techniques. Lunch is also included. On July 14 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., the following classes will be conducted:
• The Big Easy — Money management
• Just Jazzy — New Orleans Umbrella Dance, The Second Line
• Going to the Ball — Learn about the traditions associated with Mardi Gras and make mask for the fashion show.
• GUMBO, French Quarter Cuisine — Learn about flavors of New Orleans food.
The fashion revue will also be held on that Wednesday and lunch will be served. The cost of the two-day event is $30. Pre-registration is required by calling Ms. Baker at 885-3742.
