David Short Posted: Thursday, June 24, 2010 12:50 pm The Messenger, June 24, 2010 Robert David Short, 53, of Troy died in a four-wheeler accident in the Chestnut Glade community of Weakley County around 7 p.m. June 23, 2010. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mickey Hanks officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak. Friends may call at the funeral home 4-8 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be William Cole, David Bailey, John Davis, Jerry Bargery, Edward Reams, Keith Gilliam, Jerry Vastbinder and Jack Finch. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Wilds, Randy Eason, Randy Kincade and Ray Swift. The family requests that memorials be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation at Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 749596, Los Angeles, CA 90074-9596; or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis at Le Bonheur Foundation, P.O. Box 41817, Memphis, TN 38174-1817. He was born May 31, 1957, in Dyer County, son of Peggy Jean (Mingle) Short of Hornbeak and the late Olen Short. He had been employed at Production Credit Association for seven years and at First State Bank for 14 years. Most recently, he and William Cole had opened Cole & Short Crop Insurance Agency in Union City. He was a member of Troy First Baptist Church. Survivors also include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley (Short) and Lucas Wilds of Troy and Jessica and Randy Eason of Union City; his sister and brother-in-law, Shannon and Lannie Hogg of Hornbeak; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
