GOOD CITIZEN — Shelby Jones, a 2010 Fulton High School graduate, has been named the Kentucky District I Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award winner for the 2009-10 year. He was the winner of the Jacob Flournoy Chapter’s Good Citizen Award. He recently received a certificate and cash award at the Kentucky State DAR Conference in Lexington from National DAR president general Linda Calvin (left) and Kentucky State regent Sharon Withers. District I is comprised of 15 chapters. The Good Citizen winner was selected on the basis of references; high school, community and extra-curricular activities; and good citizen qualities of dependability, honesty, service, leadership, personality, patriotism and unselfish loyalty to American ideals. Students also submitted American Heritage essays written in the presence of a faculty member. Jones is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Alan Jones. He is enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Martin this summer and plans to begin his studies at the University of Kentucky this fall.
