Neva Katherine (Denton) Spain, 76, of Amory, Miss., died June 15, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss. She was the sister of Wilford Denton of Union City and was a former resident of this area.
Services were set for 11 a.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with the Rev. Ray Carroll officiating. Burial was to follow there in Hatley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Lionell Stegall, F.B. Boozer, Robert Boozer and Jeff Boozer.
She was born July 8, 1933, in Samburg, daughter of the late Joseph Jefferson and Ula Owl (Gandlett) Denton. She married the Rev. Virgil Spain in 1950. He died in 1997. A devoted pastor’s wife, she served with her husband in churches in Tennessee, Illinois and Mississippi. She was a homemaker who enjoyed Bible reading, playing piano, singing and working puzzle books. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Amory.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Edwin and Nancy Spain of Plymouth, Ill.; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda S. (Spain) and Ray Carroll of Amory; and her sister-in-law, Mayme Denton of Union City.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harvell Denton, Hubert Denton and Claudie Denton.
