Tulip Grove Chapter give report

The Tulip Grove Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812 met recently at the Jackson Country Club. President Regina East presided.
  Chaplain Pro Tem Patsy Weatherington served as chaplain.
Patriotic exercises were led by Flag Chairman Donna Cooley.
The American’s Creed was said in unison.
The purposes of the National Society were read by Joan Harmon.
   Donna Cooley spoke on a flag minute asking all to give a flag to their US Post Office, cemetery, city hall or wherever one is needed.
  The National Defense report was given by Barbara Stegall. She spoke on the military cemeteries across this nation and asked all to pause on Memorial Day for all our veterans. She also spoke on the tragedy in the Gulf oil field and how it will affect so many people.
  Recording Secretary Mrs. Sam Miller read the minutes. They were approved.
  Treasurer Aline Roberts gave the financial report.
  Registrar Terry Nelson reported that they are growing. Aline Roberts three grandchildren, Ty, Rex and Grant Roberts have sent their papers in to become 1812 Junior members Jennie Whitehead and Sherrie Taylor are working on their papers.
  Joan Birmingham reported on State Council held March 4, 2010 at the Hilton Airport in
Knoxville.
Aline Roberts reported on Associate Council held April 8-11 at the Hamilton Crown Plaza in Washington, D.C.
Dues were collected from all members present.
  All were wished a nice summer and all officers and chairmen are to report on Aug. 27 to State Board Meeting to be held in Manchester. Published in the Press 6-17-10
