The Dyer County Chapter of the American Red Cross is giving you the opportunity to dust off that old leather jacket and put on that poodle skirt as they will be hosting a 50’s and 60’s street dance and car show fundraiser on Saturday, June 19 at the Dyersburg Square Shopping Center parking lot behind McDonalds.
The event will kick off at 7a.m. with an indoor yard sale located inside the former Mr. Fix It store and will continue until noon. From 5-9 p.m. the Forked Deer Antique Car Club will have a car show in the parking lot of the shopping center. A street dance will take place during the car show with music of the 50’s & 60’s. Music on the Move with Dan the Man will provide the entertainment. Individuals are encouraged to come to the event in their best 50’s & 60’s costume. Lighthouse Photography will be set up during the car show to take pictures of individuals in their best 50’s and 60’s outfits. For a donation of seven dollars individuals will receive a free 8×10 portrait. Food will be available on’site with a choice of hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and root beer floats.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the night for best costume and best couple dancing.
There will also be hoola hoop and limbo contests with prizes awarded. The event is open to the public and all money raised will benefit the Dyer County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
