Thomas Merle “Tom” James, 82, of Dyer, brother of Susie Wright of Union City, died June 14, 2010, at Dyer Nursing Home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer, with burial following there in Good Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Crouse will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 this evening.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Gibson County, son of the late Burman and Virgie James. The widower of Elizabeth James, he was a retired factory worker and a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
He is also survived by his daughter, Janice Forbes; three grandchildren and their spouses, Lee Ann and Mickey Butler, Judi and Rick Heavner and Jeff and Kim Forbes; five great-grandchildren and the spouse of one of them, Hillary and Brett Adams, Jeremy Coble, Noah Forbes, Brennan Forbes and Mason Forbes; his great-great-grandson, Aiden Adams; four step-grandchildren, Chase Heavner, Carol Ann Heavner, Brooke Butler and Jeffrey Butler; two brothers and his sister-in-law, Grant James and Ed and Thelma James; and another sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tommy Hamilton.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Fay James; and his brother, Harold Wayne James.
