Union City Police officers were on the scene early Sunday morning when shots were fired at the VIP Club at 1220 East Main St.
According to a report, officers had been requested to be on the scene near closing time at 3 a.m. Sunday because of a fight which had broken out at the club earlier in the evening Saturday.
Officers were parked on the parking lot of the Snack Shop and were standing outside their vehicles when they heard three shots fired inside the club. As they approached the front door, a large crowd starting fighting outside near the front door.
At this time, there were about 200 people in the parking lot and fights were breaking out everywhere, the report stated. As officers were working to separate the fights near the front door of the club, another fight broke out across the street at the former Mexican restaurant, with one shot being fired there.
It took about 15 minutes for the officers to be able to get the crowd to disburse, according to the report.
