NASHVILLE (AP) — Nashville plans to seek a consultant to develop a long-term community flood recovery plan.
According to The Tennessean newspaper, it could open the door to federal grants and other post-disaster funding.
Nashville officials already have reviewed work that consultants did for some other towns, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after catastrophic flooding there in 2008.
Nashville intends to issue a request for proposals from consultants, which could go out before next month.
Flooding in early May damaged about 12,000 Nashville homes and killed nine people.
