Jerry Murray Posted: Monday, June 14, 2010 4:50 pm The Messenger, June 14, 2010 Jerry E. Murray Sr., 70, of South Fulton died June 11, 2010, at his home. Services were set for 2 p.m. today at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with Dr. Rodger Eakin officiating. Burial was to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. He was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Obion County, son of Margaret (Long) Murray of Fulton and the late Frazier Thomas Murray. He was married to Alice H. Murray, who survives, March 5, 1960. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Squadron VP5, known as “The Mad Foxes,” while stationed in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a graduate of Henry County High School in Pairs and had worked for many years as a builder. He was a member of Fulton First Baptist Church. Survivors also include his son and daughter-in-law, Jaye and Kim Murray of South Fulton; his daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Mike Garland of Franklin; four grandchildren, Sam Murray and Slade Murray, both of South Fulton, and Logan Garland and Jack Garland, both of Franklin; his sister and brother-in-law, Shelby and Bobby Freeman of Paris; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda H. and Larry Jones of Paris.
