Martin-native Sabree Danner and Greenfield resident Taren Hatcher will head to Jackson next week to compete to claim the title as Miss Tennessee 2010.
Danner, a 2006 graduate of Westview High School, currently wears the crown as Miss Fall Fest, an annual event held in Union City.
Danner said she established her platform on the M and M program (Manners Matter) in order to re-educate and provide Tennesseans with tools on manners and etiquettes in a society that is too often lacking.
The 22-year-old is a fashion merchandising student at Middle Tennessee State University. Her parents are Teresa and Roy Wainscott of Martin and Robert Danner of St. Roberts, Mo.
Nineteen-year-old Taren Hatcher of Greenfield said she is excited about the opportunity to represent West Tennessee in the Miss Tennessee 2010 pageant.
Hatcher is a 2008 graduate of Greenfield High School. She will enter her junior year at the University of Tennessee at Martin in the fall with a major in elementary education.
She currently holds the title of Miss UTM. Hatcher’s platform is Breast Cancer Awareness.
Hatcher said she chose the cause in honor of her grandmother, Brenda Brown, who lost her life to breast cancer.
She is the daughter of Perry and Sherry Hatcher of Greenfield.
Both ladies have a vocal talent.
The Miss Tennessee 2010 pageant begins June 16 and lasts through June 19. The competitors will complete a series of tasks including talent and interview.
The event will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.
