Harold Franklin “Frank” Whitehead Sr., 91, of Rives died June 10, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mickey Hanks. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jon Moody, Brandon Whitehead, Bob McClure, Brian McClure, Johnnie Garrett and Rob Millar. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of the Men’s Brotherhood of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Rives.
He was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Weakley County, son of the late William Robert and Jettie (Hansbrough)  Whitehead. He married the former Edna Johnson Jan. 27, 1940. She died April 13, 2008.
He was a retired carpenter and had been employed at the former McAdoo Contractors in Union City. Following his retirement, he was also employed at Union City Marine. He and his wife completed long-term mission trips to Africa and Chile.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dick Prater of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his daughter-in-law, Vivian Whitehead of Union City; six grandchildren, Bob McClure of Montgomery, Ala., Mitzi McClure of Muldrow, Okla., Kathy Williams of Daphne, Ala., Suzan Campbell of Crestview, Fla., Amy Moody of Huntingdon and Brandon Whitehead of Hermitage; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Alexander of Martin, Mary Nell Polsgrove of South Fulton and Bobbie Lou Blakemore of Houston; his brother, Bill Whitehead of Tyler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Harold Whitehead; his sister, Margaret Alexander; and his brother, James Whitehead.
