The Press 6.3.10 It’s that time of year again when children of all ages visit their local public library for an up-close and personal visit with a PBS Kids character thanks to WLJT-DT.
This event, facilitated by WLJT’s Sue Lasky, Education and Outreach Director, extends the educational impact of PBS Kids programs “beyond the screen” by introducing young fans to their favorite PBS series stars.
This year’s special visitor will be Leona, a four-year-old lion cub and reader extraordinaire, from Between the Lions. Leona is very excited about meeting the children at local libraries.
On June 7 from 3-3:45 p.m., Leona will be at the C.E. Weldon Public Library in Martin.
On June 11 from 2-2:45 p.m., Leona will also appear at the Weakley County Public Library in Dresden.
Be sure to bring your children out for these special visits and tune in to Between the Lions weekdays at 5 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on WLJT-DT, public television for West Tennessee. Don’t forget your camera!
