Matter Mae Ellison

Matter Mae Ellison, 68, of Martin, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at her residence.
Services were held at noon Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Martin with Rev. Alvin J. Summers officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Dresden with Rawls Funeral Home in Union City in charge of the arrangements.
Roland Hamilton, Robert Scott, Walter Scott, Ricky Atkins, James Marshall and Bobby Phelps served as pallbearers.
 Mrs. Ellison was born Oct. 4, 1941, in Dresden, daughter of the late Frank Wayne Hamilton and Rozell Bell Evans. She was employed at the former Martin Manufacturing Company, a member of Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden and later was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Celisa and Christopher Stephens of Brandywine, Md. and Carrie Tina Powell of Martin; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Barbara Puckett of Union City, Rodney Puckett of Martin, Michael and Selena Ellison of Dresden; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Henry James Easley of Martin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Payton and Lula Evans, James and Clara Hamilton Sr., all of Martin; and 12 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Wayne “Coofie” Evans; and one brother, Ernest Evans.
